Introduction Genomics
About Genomics
Founded in 2001
"Genomics BioSci & Tech Co., Ltd (Genomics) was founded in 2001 by Dr. Zhou De Yian, a renowned Sequencing Researcher at the Academic Sinica, and his son, Joseph Chou, together with team of technology experts. We are the largest Commercial Genomic Company in Taiwan.
The company has committed significant efforts in the field of biological genetic sequencing for more than 20 years, and has accumulated various genomic analysis platforms and critical technology to provide researchers and medical institutions the most comprehensive technical services. We hope that by developing applications for genetic information, we can assist organizations in achieving breakthrough advances in their respective fields of research, and ultimately provide solutions to issues concerning human lives.
Starting from the basic genetic decoding technology, Genomics has been proactively participating in government-sponsored projects, such as the Cancer Moonshot project of the Academia Sinica, the establishment of the Taiwan Biobank, the Rapid WES Project, and the Taiwan Precision Medicine Initiative (TPMI). We utilize the experiences gained by our team and academic knowledge to integrate the genetic decoding platforms, leverage Big Data and AI technologies to development genetic engineering applications like the Swine Performance Testing Technology, making significant stride into the genomic application market."
We also provide the raw materials for nucleic acid and peptide pharmaceutics in the era of precision medicine, patching up the gaps in supply of raw materials to Taiwan’s biotechnology and R&D industry.
"As the COVID-19 pandemic broke out in 2020, Genomics cooperated with national policies to rapidly provide primers needed for PCR tests. Upon examining issues faced by Taiwan’s vaccine industry such as lack of critical technologies and raw materials, we made the decision to invest in the GMP oligonucleotide production industry, increasing our capacity for synthesis of nucleic acid probes and provide the raw materials for nucleic acid and peptide pharmaceutics in the era of precision medicine, patching up the gaps in supply of raw materials to Taiwan’s biotechnology and R&D industry.
In the coming years, Genomics will continue to introduce the latest genomic analysis platforms and technology, dedicating efforts into the development of genomic sequencing for technological services and clinical medicine market, while crossing over into the field of CDMO industry to complement scientific research with medical applications. We hope to steadily perfect the testing technology and key pharmaceutical molecules needed for precision medicine, and to assume the role of the critical supplier of medical services and systems. Whether it’s basic scientific research or clinical testing, Genomics is always your strongest ally; “Providing Fast and High Quality Services” is our unwavering vision and mission."
Key leadership figures: introduction to the founders of Genomics
Dr. De Yuan CHOW & President Meng Xian CHOW (Joseph Chow)
Dr. De Yuan CHOW
Pioneer of DNA Sequencing in Taiwan
Leads the Biotechnology industry in Taiwan to thrive and flourish globally
Dr. CHOW was mentored by Dr. Fred Sanger, the two-times Nobel Prize Laureate and inventor of DNA sequencing; Dr. CHOW was invited to co-direct the “International Rice Genome Sequencing Project” (IRGSP) and completed the sequencing of the 5th chromosome of Rice in 2005, putting Taiwan (R.O.C.)’s flag on the Rice chromosome map along with the United States and Japan and garnering worldwide attention. Dr. Takuji Sasaki, convener of the IRGSP in Japan, also gave high praises to Dr. CHOW, believing his technique to be the “Gold Standard”. As a way to contribute his learning, Dr. CHOW introduced the DNA sequencing technology into Taiwan and focused on the development and promotion of DNA sequencing technology, while owning various patents and publishing journal articles in respectable international journals such as Nature. To ensure that the DNA sequencing technology is passed on and ever-evolving, Dr. CHOW and his Son, Joseph Chou, founded the GenoGenomics BioSci & Tech. Co.,Ltd. in 2001, hoping to lead the biotechnology industry in Taiwan to thrive and flourish on a global scale.
